Welcome to Geoffrey Chaucer’s world…

I have been obsessed by the endlessly fascinating life of Geoffrey Chaucer since university and have channeled this interest into The Storyteller series of historical novels.

Chaucer led many lives. Son of a wine trader. Soldier. Page, valettus and esquire to royalty, diplomat and ‘reluctant spy’ for King Edward the Third. Senior bureaucrat, Member of Parliament, spin-doctor for the ages, Chaucer wrote in English when those in power wrote and spoke in French – a rebel of sorts whose voice could not be silenced, and now considered the “father of English literature”.

The Storyteller’s War: Geoffrey Chaucer, Reluctant Spy is the first novel in the series, and was released by US publisher Black Rose Writing in 2025.

See my Linktree for where you can buy the book in Canada, the US and the UK. It is also available at local independent bookstores across BC including Armchair Books (Whistler), Helicon Books (North Vancouver), Munro’s (Victoria) and Salt Spring Books. It’s also available in select libraries (Vancouver, Salt Spring, Creston, Regina); please do ask your local library to order a copy if it is not available (as I may even see a few pesos if enough libraries order it).

The Storyteller’s Reputation is the second novel in the series. What began as a film script was followed by two research trips to London, Paris, Milan and Tuscany that helped paint some of the details. The book should be available next year.

I’m also planning a research trip to Europe later this summer for the next book in the series. Assuming health, wealth and happiness prevail, more details shall follow.
