I have been obsessed by the endlessly fascinating life of Geoffrey Chaucer since university and have channeled this interest into The Storyteller series of historical novels.
Chaucer led many lives. Son of a wine trader. Soldier. Page, valettus and esquire to royalty, diplomat and ‘reluctant spy’ for King Edward the Third. Senior bureaucrat, Member of Parliament, spin-doctor for the ages, Chaucer wrote in English when those in power wrote and spoke in French – a rebel of sorts whose voice could not be silenced, and now called the “father of English literature”.
The Storyteller’s War: Geoffrey Chaucer, Reluctant Spy is the first novel in the series, and was released by Black Rose Writing in 2025.

Also available at local independent bookstores across BC including Armchair Books (Whistler), Salt Spring Books and Helicon Books (North Vancouver). It’s also available in select libraries (Vancouver, Salt Spring, Creston, Regina); please ask your local library to order a copy if it is not available.
The Storyteller’s Reputation is the second novel in the series. Two research trips to London, Paris, Milan and Tuscany helped paint some of the details, and the book will be released in 2026.
I’m also planning another research trip to Europe in 2026 for the next book in the series. More details to follow.
